About the Artist /

I’m Riané Human— a Fashion Photographer and Creative Director from Johannesburg, splitting my time between Chicago and California.

I grew an interest in fashion photography in 2018 and quickly realized it was where I felt most inspired and free. There aren’t really any rules, and that’s what I love about it. You can go big or keep it simple, follow a feeling, play with light, or just see where the moment takes you.

A lot of my inspiration comes from old movies. I love how the music and visuals build emotion, creating a feeling you can’t always explain. That’s what I try to capture in my work too. A little cinematic, a little emotional, and never too perfect on purpose.

When you do something long enough, especially when it becomes your job, it’s easy to slip into autopilot. But I try to hold onto that original spark, the childlike curiosity that made me fall in love with this in the first place. I still want to create just to create. To make something just to see what’s possible. That wonder is what keeps me coming back.

I care about the work, but I care just as much about how it feels to make it. My shoots are laid-back, collaborative, and focused on making sure you feel good from start to finish. I want the final images to feel true to you and like we had a great time getting there.
